Love the Layering!

It has been a while since our last entry...the weeks seem to be passing quite fast but hope everyone is having a very Happy New Year! 2010 brought us much excitement and we hope 2011 will only continue that way. We have been busy finalising our new collections over the past months and, as the new collection has already received much positive press, we thought it was about time we delve a bit more into what to expect this year!

We were very happy to see that Glam UK recently picked our extra long short sleeve top with button detail to feature as part of its loveable loungewear to outerwear article! This piece, like the rest of the collection, is a versatile classic style that can be worn by itself, or layered with other pieces from the collections to create your own personal style. Below is possibly a perfect combination: our extra long short sleeve top with button detail with the cropped bodice tricot cardigan with front zip and thumb holes.

In our previous post Press Breakfast at Harrods dated Tuesday, 23rd November 2010, you’ll remember images of the new Kelly Hoppen for Earth Couture collection. These images, along with the few sneak peaks below of other pieces from the collection, portray the integral part layering plays with these designs. As with the current collection, the beauty of these pieces is that everything can be worn together. Whether it be the sleeveless racer back top under the thumb hole cardigan or long sleeve top, the endless ‘mix and match’ aspect really makes these collections truly timeless necessities in your wardrobe!

Along with developing these layering style strengths, the above images show that the new Kelly Hoppen for Earth Couture has also added a dash of colour. With shades of khaki, pink and purple, the layering between pieces becomes a styled story. With dresses that can be layered with each other or different tops or even the popular mesh detail leggings, which have been carried over from the current collection, the possibilities of loveable loungewear also being outerwear are really endless this season.

So why wait, love yourself or your Valentine with some Kelly Hoppen for Earth Couture loveable loungewear!

Press Breakfast at Harrods

Apologies for the lack of entries over the past months – things have been a bit hectic! This therefore calls for a proper entry of our latest event, the Kelly Hoppen for Earth Couture press breakfast at Harrods in Knightsbridge! You might have already read some bits and pieces in the press about the event that took place last Thursday, but here is the roundup of the morning with some photos...

Starting with preparations early last Thursday morning, the models were dressed with pieces from the latest Kelly Hoppen for Earth Couture collection while the remainder of the collection was displayed beautifully in the centre of Harrods swim room on the first floor. Check out the photos below to get a view of the models looking great in some of the new pieces as well as Kelly with her new collection...

We then spent the morning meeting and showing Kelly’s newest collection to press. While discussing the gorgeous new collection, and the celebrity fans such as Victoria Beckham it has already gathered, Earth Couture's ethical commitment was not forgotten. With every sale of Kelly Hoppen for Earth Couture, we at Earth Couture donate much-needed mosquito coils to families in Nigeria helping to protect them from life-threatening diseases such as malaria, to which young children are particularly vulnerable. Needless to say, we could not have been more excited to talk about the collection and our ethical stance with the likes of Vogue, The Telegraph, Stella, Harper’s Bazaar, and Bang Showbiz to name but a few! Check out the photos below to see the atmosphere and interest...

The buzz of the morning - press gathering around the new collection!

As hinted in the photos above, we are bringing in more colours for the new season! Don’t you just love the combination of the KH7 extra long sleeveless top in powder blue with the loose KH11 drawstring waist charcoal trousers on the model pictured below?? With powder blue, dusty pink and deep purple among the list of new colours, please do keep your comments coming in to let us know which one is your favourite!

Taking place at Kelly's gorgeous Notting Hill home, we spent the day introducing the pieces to many famous faces including Beverley Knight, Katie Nicholl, Lisa Snowdon, Tamsin Outhwaite, Yasmin Mills and Emma Crosby. Towards the end of the day we also managed to get a few great snaps of them already loving the collection!

New York

It has been a while since there was some proper entries on here so what else could be a better topic than my recent visit to New York city? Having spent the past weeks there, I am still feeling the great buzz of it all! Especially as the Earth Couture concept got such a great response. While spreading the Earth Couture word I had the pleasure of meeting Julie Gilhart (pictured below).

As the fashion director of Barneys New York with a passion for more ethical fashion, this was quite simply the most amazing experience ever! We talked not only about the problems that currently face ethical fashion but also the great opportunities that need to come of a greenerfashion industry. Truly a discussion of green power!

I know that style.com had done an interview with Julie back in April 2010 concerning this topic so have a look as it's well worth reading:

Along with meeting Julie Gilhart, I also had the pleasure of meeting with all the other major department stores in New York city...and although I cannot discuss future stockists as of yet, I can confirm the very exciting news that Earth Couture will be entering the US markets soon!

Watch this space :)
